School Admissions

Donisthorpe is an extremely popular primary school. We have places for 210 pupils from EYFS to Year 6, in 7 classes across the school.

We can take children into classes at any point in the year, if we have spaces.  We can also take children out of catchment to support parents in finding the right school for their child. For children starting school for the first time at 4 years old, our usual intake is late August/early September. Please contact our school office to find out if we have space in your child's year group and to book a place to look around.

Applying for a place Mid Year
If you are interested in a place for your child and wish to move them from another school during the academic year (this is called an in-year transfer), please call our office to find out if we have any places in the year group before making an application to Leicestershire Local Authority.

We have 1 class in each year group (30 places for each year group) and we are almost full in every class.

Our Admission Policy is available by following this link: https://www.symphonylearningtrust.co.uk/admissions-policy

Do you have a child due to start school in 2026?

We hold open an open evening in the Autumn term and also offer tours around the school during the school day- please contact us to find out more.

We have one EYFS intake, in late August/early September. Parents and carers need to apply for a place at our school via the local authority by mid-January 2026 and places are confirmed in April 2026. It is important to apply on time to have the best chance of securing a place at your preferred school.

Applications for places at our school are managed by Leicestershire County Council; the school does not deal with place allocations directly. Please visit the Local Authority website (www.leicestershire.gov.uk/admissions) for advice and to apply online for a school place.

Paper copies of application forms can be obtained by telephoning the Admissions Department on 0116 305 6684.

Appeals are administered by Leicestershire County Council. You can access the appeals information here
