School Uniform

​It is our policy that all children should wear school uniform when attending school. We believe that school uniform is important for several reasons:
• It promotes a sense of pride in the school
• It engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school
• It is practical and smart
• It makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
• It is regarded as suitable wear for school and good value for money by most parents
• It is designed with health and safety in mind

Our School Uniform Requirements

It is our priority to ensure that uniform is of low cost and that parents are able to access second hand uniform. Parents may opt for their children to wear plain or logo/branded uniform. Plain uniform is available from all supermarkets and other suppliers at a low cost. The school also has a stock of second hand uniform for families who need support with ensuring their child has the uniform needed. We encourage families to pass uniform down through siblings and friends.

This is a summary of the items children need: 

- Sweatshirt or cardigan with/without school logo (royal blue)
- Polo shirt with/without school logo or plain shirt or blouse (polo shirt - white or royal blue, plain shirt or blouse - white)
- Plain school trousers/shorts or plain pinafore dress/plain skirt (grey or black)
- School summer dress (blue and white gingham)
- Plain school shoes or trainers (black, with no coloured logos or designs)

​Please note light/pale blue polo shirts are NOT school uniform.

PE kits
Depending on their year group, children may:

• come to school wearing their PE kit on PE days,
• bring their PE kit to change into at school, in a named PE bag
• or follow a combination of both approaches.

The school will determine the appropriate arrangement for each year group and will inform parents of PE days and expectations at the beginning of each academic year. Arrangements may differ between year groups to support age-appropriate independence and organisation skills.

Items

• Royal blue/white PE t shirt with/without school logo
• Plain blue or black shorts and/or plain blue or black tracksuit bottoms/joggers
• Plain blue or black sweatshirt, hoodie or tracksuit top for colder weather
• Trainers suitable for physical activity. These should:
  - Provide secure support for running, jumping and movement
  - Have a non-marking, grippy sole where possible
  - Be safe and appropriate for indoor and outdoor use
  - Fashion footwear, school shoes or boots are not suitable for PE.

A named book bag can be purchased from Pupils Schoolwear in Swadlincote (pupilsschoolwear.co.uk). A book bag is very useful for carrying books, school letters and other home-school communication items. If children bring a different bag (backpack), please ensure this is a suitable size to hang on a peg without encroaching on other peg space.

• The school holds stock of second hand and new uniform in all sizes. Parents should speak to the office or their child's class teacher at any time. 
• Pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium funding are offered support with uniform costs. Parents should speak to the office or their child's class teacher at any time. 
• We encourage families to pass uniform down through siblings and friends.
